The History of Wimbledon
Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament, founded in 1877 at the All England Club. It is the only Grand Slam still played on grass — the sport's original surface. Known for its all-white dress code, strawberries & cream, and royal patronage, it is tennis's most prestigious event.
🏆 Most Wimbledon Titles (Open Era)
Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam that still uses a retractable roof on Centre Court (installed 2009). The tournament has never been cancelled except for the World Wars and COVID-19.
